Don’t be afraid to lean into the obvious, there’s a reason that Apple’s logo is, well, an apple. Shapes with interesting gradients or textures can be used to push your design to the next level. Here, FX Technology Co. has used a blue to yellow gradient to achieve a really sleek look. They’ve used a laptop icon inside the circle, but this could easily be changed to a bunch of flowers, a wine glass, or a stack of weights depending on your business. This also helps with cross-platform branding, as a “boxed in” logo works well digitally, as well on letterhead, presentations, and merchandise such as pens or lanyards.
Evaluate your options
Evaluating your logo options can be hard, so get some feedback from friends, potential customers and colleagues to help you make a decision. Display fonts are decorative fonts that are highly stylized and really catch the eye. Take a look at the Perfect You logo above that uses a display font to give the design a fun 70s flair.
Help the client to roll out your logo design
When choosing your font, also consider the line thickness, whether you’ll use italicized or regular, and the mood you want to convey. Orange’s high-saturation sister, yellow, also gives off light, energy, and warmth. But if orange’s warmth is a glowing fireplace, yellow’s is the intense heat of a midday sun. However, regardless of the company, people do business with people, so a human, emotional side to your work will always have a level of relevance. So much similarity in the marketplace doesn’t necessarily mean your job has become easier, though. It often takes a brave client to buck a trend that they see all around them. However, showing imagination in your design portfolio is one good way to attract the kind of client you want, and demonstrating the appropriateness of your concept can help see off any qualms.

Find the right type of logo
The aim of logo design should therefore be to create something that people can easily picture when they think about their experiences with a product, company or service. The logo for skincare brand Voany leaves no doubt that it is an elegant, natural high-end brand, using a combination mark in an organic shape, a classic serif font and a natural brown and beige color palette. Reflect Academy on the other hand looks disruptive and eye-catching by combining a modern font with colorful and abstract shapes for a fresh and unique look. Sans-serif fonts are perfect for a modern and clean look. They don’t have the little feet that serif fonts have which makes them look very sleek and simple.

After beating Stellar Blade, it’s also worth mentioning that there’s no New Game+ at launch. It will be coming down the line as free DLC, but right out of the gate, there’s not much waiting for you at the end beyond a hard mode that doesn’t seem to change much outside of enemies hitting you harder. This is especially frustrating because once you beat the game, your save file with all of your unlockables, costumes, and other collectibles is basically stuck at the final boss fight.
Versatility is important because it helps you reproduce your logo in a wide variety of ways. If you’re looking for simplicity and a basic way to get your branding off the ground, Ucraft provides a straightforward, no-frills logo designer. Unlike its competitors, the company’s logo maker doesn’t offer any design guidance—either AI or human.
It features a database of more than a million searchable graphics, a text toolbar, and a simplified, easy-to-arrange layering system akin to the Layers tool in Photoshop and other more complex design software. Canva is great for hands-on users, especially ones looking for complete creative freedom. However, the limitless design options can be overwhelming for first-timers.
There are plenty of adequate logo creators online, but beware—low-quality logo creators generally result in low-quality logos. At a certain point, you’re going to start to feel like you can’t even recognize letters from shapes or good logos from bad. Feedback is incredibly important to the creative process because it’s the only method creators have of “testing” their ideas. Your logo may not include any text, but much of your graphic design will, including your web copy, signage, and a host of other branded materials.
The colors are usually simple and elegant, which makes your business appear reliable and professional. To this end, we dove deep into our design database and have gathered the 99 best logos created by our Top Level designers. And to make this list manageable, we’ve grouped logos by type, so whether you’re looking for a striking symbol, a lovable mascot, or a classy monogram, we’ve got you covered. In the era of social media, every man and his dog has an opinion about every logo design that's up out there. Criticism is therefore no longer an occasional annoyance or something that might come only from professionals. It's something that anyone working on a relatively high-profile rebranding exercise should be ready for.

That insight has proven invaluable in Alba’s work at the foundation, both as a contact point for prospective grantees and as administrative support to the foundation’s directors.

He began construction of his vernacular native limestone home in the district at King William and Guenther streets. The stones were quarried in the area that now is Brackenridge Park, and wood used in the construction was East Texas pine. The original entrance to the house faced southward towards the mill. A 1915 expansion of the house, changed the entrance to the north side, fronting the San Antonio River. The original entrance now serves as a hallway between the museum and the River Mill Store part of the house.[3][11] The top floor of the house is known as the Roof Garden and once hosted dances. The south side of the house now has a patio and arbor for outdoor dining.
But in 1858, drought so depleted the crops that he had little grain to grind and little water to drive the wheel. So, Guenther decided to close the mill and relocate his business on the more powerful San Antonio River. He purchased seven and three quarter acres of land just below the center of the city. In 1860, after the mill was erected, Guenther began to build a home for his family.
Today the house serves as a museum, gift shop, and restaurant and is open to the public. The hardest part of the design process can be the search for logo inspiration. Luckily we’ve got some tips for you that will make it really easy. Sometimes black and white can seem harsh on our eyes, especially if we’re trying to create a feeling of zen. You can use various shades of the same color to create subtle contrasts within your logo. It’s also good to think about how you’re going to promote yourself when creating a logo.
Pick the right typography
When you look at consulting logos, one of the first things you’ll notice is that a lot of them make the consultant’s name the primary focus. Some are just the consultant’s name and others are the name accompanied by a small, simple icon. This kind of logo is great for a consultant who works alone or one whose firm is simply named for them. There’s a boutique quality to this kind of logo that makes them feel upscale and exclusive, which is perfect for the consultant who makes personal relationships with their clients a tenet of their brand.
GraphicSprings
The meaning of the mark in the eyes of the public gets added afterwards, when associations can be formed between what the company does and the shape and colour of its mark. In design terms, the bigger picture is every potential item on which your logo design might appear. Always consider how the identity works when the logo isn’t there too. While it's hugely important, a symbol can only take an identity so far.
Why LogoDesign.net is the No.1 Choice for Businesses
There is no one style that is right for everyone, only what’s best for your brand. Modernization doesn’t have to be ‘in your face’ to work. For this logo, Discovery Education chose to use an overlapping box effect.

If you’re striving for a similar aesthetic, your mood board might include images of vintage logos, handmade illustrations and organic shapes and colors. Or take a look at how the Rugged logo visualizes its “rugged” brand identity in a bold and rough-looking word mark but still includes a luxurious vibe with a reflective gold effect. Your mood board gives you the opportunity to pull all these elements together. With hundreds, even thousands of brands competing for our attention, brands need to differentiate themselves visually. This is achieved through brand identity design – a range of elements that work together to create a distinctive picture of the brand in our minds.
To choose colors that work well together, take a look at the color wheel. Similar to combination marks, emblem logos are also often a combination of word and pictorial elements. They usually consist of text integrated with a symbol or icon, such as badges, seals or crests.

Logo design is the process of combining your brand message, imagery and elements to turn it into a logo. The creative process captures the essence of your brand and helps make a unique symbol. This tiny graphic plays a significant role in building recognition and establishing a strong connection with your target audience. The company logo design process involves strategic thinking, creativity and brainstorming. Designers strategically choose colors, fonts and elements to evoke emotions while conveying your brand’s personality.
Simply clicking WordArt in Word and typing some text, or coming up with a design in Microsoft Paint won't create a logo that will serve the interests of your business. More importantly, this isn't something that you should do yourself. Instead of copying or mimicking famous logos, the best designers look to create a unique brand.
Wordmarks are a very straightforward way of using your company name as a logo. To give them personality and recognition value, they are all about typography—just look at the wordmark logo for ONE. If you’ve got a great name for your brand, this could be the perfect way to put it in the foreground. When thinking about your logo, the first thing you want to do is pick the right design aesthetic for your brand.
If you have less design experience, a more accessible logo creator from this list might be better. Handmade logos insinuate your brand is independent and leans heavily toward handcrafted goods. These logos often feature handwritten fonts, organic shapes, and line-drawn illustrations. They often feature a lot of white space, minimal details, and simple lines, creating a trendy, cool feel around your brand. They bought it for $1.5 million dollars and use the logo to this day.

Emigration to Texas
Bass and her family have lived in the home since early 2023 after she was elected to the position. In 1848, a twenty-three-year-old apprentice millwright boarded Europe bound for America. His name was Carl Hilmar Guenther.Hilmar traveled through the Midwest before embarking down the Mississippi River to Louisiana and, ultimately, Texas. During this time, he was involved in a variety of work experiences including lumbering, farming and flour milling. Originally, the Parlor floors were constructed of virgin pine, a wood preferred for its hardness and pleasing pattern. During the home’s restoration, the flooring was replaced by virgin pine obtained from another structure built at the turn-of-the-century.

Hilmar traveled through the Midwest before embarking down the Mississippi River to Louisiana and, ultimately, Texas. He said that even if a full team was on scene they may not have been able to prevent Hunter from breaking in due to the size of the Getty House property, and the fact that it happened at a back entrance. The break in happened while Mayor Bass and her family were inside but unharmed, said Los Angeles Police Department officials. The shattered glass triggered an alarm that alerted police, who responded to the home immediately and took Hunter into custody. Gascón says that Hunter caused between $5,000 and $10,000 in damage to the home after he shattered the glass, which cut him, causing blood stains to be left behind throughout the house. With dense, American-style ice cream and hefty flavors, this brand makes its cream locally, which adds freshness and overall quality. The ice cream from the Rustic Canyon family of restaurants is the brainchild of chef Shiho Yoshikawa and is full of delightful surprises, like its housemade candied nuts and mini marshmallows. From 8 to 800, Brewster Street Ice House can accommodate any size party to fit your needs.

They make that almond-macadamia nut milk from scratch, by the way, which is as good as it sounds - we usually ask for it on the side, so we can drink whatever we don’t dump in our coffee. The cold brew at La Brea’s Neighborhood was pretty divisive within the Infatuation LA office (back when we used to go to an office) - some of us loved it, others said it was a touch bitter. We got ours with oat milk, but however you order, you’ll be happy, because it’s made with excellent Canyon Coffee espresso. But even though it’s a chain, this is still an excellent, reliable option for coffee when you need it, from Malibu and Abbot Kinney to Los Feliz and Pasadena. Their New Orleans-style cold brew, made with coffee, roast chicory, and cane sugar, is a particular potent and sweet favorite. Andante, the coffee shop and roastery on Beverly in Fairfax, serves some of the most potent cold brew around, which is ideal when it’s 6pm and your boss is showing no signs of signing off anytime soon.
Andante Coffee Roasters
Find anything from Grapenut-infused brown bread to things like strawberry balsamic. There’s always a good selection of non-dairy oat milk-based flavors as well. With summer just around the corner in Los Angeles, it’s a good time to start thinking about where to get the best ice cream, soft serve, and gelato.

We suspect that at some point, Los Feliz announced there would be free rent for any coffee shop that opened on Hillhurst. But the best of the many, many cafes on this Eastside street is Maru, a parking space-sized spot serving house-roasted coffee. Their cold brew is sweet and smooth, and if you’re looking for something a bit less hard-hitting, they’ve got our favorite iced matcha around. If there’s one single iced coffee drink in the city that we’d have every day, it would probably be the Layla Latte from VanillaBlack. The Layla is made with lavender and honey, and it’s sweet, creamy, and fragrant, without being too much of any one of those flavors.
LA’s Best Iced Coffees And Cold Brews
Toppings are plentiful, and they’ve even got a few vegan options available. One of LA’s top practitioners of gelato, Bacio di Latte inside the Century City mall has the luscious creamy texture one would expect from top-quality Italian ice cream. The pistachio is a real gem, though the signature bacio di latte, or sweet cream, is a must-order as well. As a self-described “chef-y” Dairy Queen, Magpies Softserve embraces this label and turns it up to eleven. Hailing from Pennsylvania, this national chain has been making good inroads in Los Angeles, starting with a longtime Torrance window and now this prime LA spot along La Brea.
Mashti Malone Ice Cream
LA's original Persian ice cream shop has been serving locals and tourists for decades, and its rose-infused ice cream still tastes like springtime. Don't forget to add a dash of sour cherry syrup to tame all of the sweetness. This family-owned operation offers 27 flavors along with sundaes, shakes, banana splits, and an impossibly big ice cream sandwich.
Brewster Street Icehouse doesn’t just have food, it has some of the best food in Corpus Christi, and you won’t pay those full service restaurant prices. From our “Best of the Best” Fish Tacos to our World-Famous Chicken Fried Steak, the Brewster Street Grill serves authentic Texas cuisine.

Thankfully, LA is spoiled for choice when it comes to all that’s cold and creamy, with scoop shops parked everywhere, from the Westside to SGV, the Valley to the South Bay. Here now are 16 outstanding ice cream shops in Los Angeles from west to east. Awan makes some of the best ice cream in the city, period, and the fact that their treats are vegan-friendly is just the cherry on top. The dairy-free shop in West Hollywood serves complex flavors, including saffron pistachio Medjool date, spiced persimmon and graham, and blue corn tortilla.

Spoke is also one of those elusive spots with both high-quality coffee and a fantastic selection of beer and wine to transition into later in the day. East Hollywood’s Bolt keeps things simple, with one kind of cold brew made from Honduran beans. But we wouldn’t want any more than that, because the drink is smooth and not the least bit bitter. Plus, Bolt uses beans roasted in Cape Cod, and, if you’ve ever been to a Dunkin’ Donuts, you know New Englanders take their coffee very seriously. If you think all cold brew tastes the same, we’re very sorry for all the mediocre versions you’ve been drinking. And also, you should head straight to Menotti’s in Venice (or Culver City) to have your mind changed.
A Sunset Junction stand-by since 2014, Dinosaur Coffee serves tremendous cold brew and iced lattes. It’s a very serious coffee shop that serves near-perfect versions of drinks, but doesn’t take itself seriously at all. And, as any writer/artist/actor in LA will tell you, using the McDonald’s Wi-Fi while working at Dinosaur Coffee is a true struggling artist rite of passage. You’ll probably walk by Obit & Del’s once or twice before you notice it, but it’s worth seeking out this new coffee shop in an oddly barren section of Hollywood Blvd. in Thai Town. A great spot to pick up lunch, HIlltop is also a cafe with locations in Inglewood and View Park-Windsor Hills. Their regular cold brew coffee is potent but not overpowering, and the nitro version is like drinking a coffee smoothie - we love it.

We like the espresso here, too, so you wouldn’t be wrong if you wanted an iced latte, instead. Go Get Em Tiger has quickly ballooned from a tiny spot on Larchmont to a local mini-empire, with locations in Highland Park, DTLA, Weho, Hollywood, Culver City, and Los Feliz (temporarily closed). The fact that their coffee is consistently excellent, from the simple, sweet iced coffee, to the completely over-the-top iced turmeric almond macadamia nut latte.
Doubting Thomas is a Historic Filipinotown cafe that you probably know for their excellent braised pork shoulder breakfast burrito, but their coffee is just as good. Get the single origin Kenya as an iced pour over - it’s aromatic, slightly bitter, and tremendous. Pre-COVID, Spoke Cafe was a great place to hang out by the LA River Bike Path and eat some avocado toast with your morning coffee. Now, it’s an absolutely essential spot, with a massive patio that’s ideal for social distancing, and some really great cold brew to go along with it.
Local crowds descend upon Big Softee for highly Instagrammable swirls of soft serve. Flavors change daily and are inspired by Asian desserts, like Hong Kong-style milk tea, ginger-kissed tofu flower, and matcha almond. This 100-year-old ice cream brand still churns some of the city’s best scoops, anywhere. Of course, the Alhambra-based company’s soda fountain options (floats, malts, and more) are worth the trip to the original location or the more recently opened space in Glendora. The Brewster Street Icehouse building was built in 1932 and was originally owned by Union Pacific Railroad and later occupied by Yellow Freight Distribution, whose sign still hangs next to the female restrooms. Tucked away on Third Street in Beverly Grove, Ecco un Poco offers a surprising, abundant selection of fresh gelato and cones that — like all its flavors — are gluten-free.
Our favorite is the Ethiopian Harrar, a single origin bean that is fruity and chocolatey. The weather is already warm enough, there’s no sense in making yourself even hotter with a boiling cup of bean water. But you’ve never tried to make cold brew, and you honestly don’t really get how espresso is made, which means you’re in need of an iced coffee - stat. Fortunately, there are tons of coffee shops around LA that do the cold stuff just as well as the hot stuff - and in some cases, even better. Here are 18 places to get your caffeine fix with some excellent cold brew or an iced latte.
An excellent Historic Filipinotown cafe, Bloom & Plume does all varieties of coffee drinks very well. But our favorite is the iced mocha - it’s their traditional iced latte, with house-made single origin dark chocolate, and it’s sweet enough that you know it’s there, but not so potent that it overpowers the espresso. Get it with half and half to make it extra creamy - it balances out the chocolate well. A high-end coffee shop in Santa Monica serving house-roasted beans, Funnel Mill is an excellent place to pick up a cup amidst the sea of Santa Monica coffee chains. They use a water drip siphon system for their iced coffee, which means that the inside of their shop looks like a Breaking Bad set.
They pick their favorite cold brew batches, and have them kegged for a perfect nitro brew. The family-owned La Jerezana in Boyle Heights opened in late-2020, making tequila ice cream, cheesecake paletas, and raspados on-site. For surprising vegan eats hit up Dear Bella Creamery in Hollywood, where collaborations and seasonal rotations keep the menu fresh and lively. From soft serve options to scoops, pints, and ice cream sandwiches, this is the place for non-dairy ice cream seekers to get it all.
Bodø Cathedral for instance was built in reinforced concrete allowing a wide basilica to be built. During the 1960s there was a more pronounced break from tradition as in the Arctic Cathedral built in lightweight concrete and covered in aluminum sidings. The architecture of Constantinople (Istanbul) in the 6th century produced churches that effectively combined centralized and basilica plans, having semi-domes forming the axis, and arcaded galleries on either side. Many later Eastern Orthodox churches, particularly large ones, combine a centrally planned, domed eastern end with an aisled nave at the west.

Examples include the St. George Jetson Church, the Miho Institute of Aesthetics in Japan, and the Church of Knarvik in Norway, which reimagine traditional forms and architectural styles. These churches demonstrate that modern design can enhance the spiritual experience by providing visually stunning spaces that evoke a sense of wonder and reverence. By celebrating the union of faith and design, the Bosjes Chapel and the Våler kirke inspire believers and visitors alike, reminding us of the power of architecture to uplift the soul and deepen our connection with the divine. Another standout contemporary church design is the Community Church in Knarvik, Norway. Inspired by the traditional stave churches, this modern interpretation sits perched on a rock cliff, offering breathtaking views of the fjords.

Minimalist church architecture is characterized by its focus on simplicity, clean lines, and uncluttered spaces. It often features open layouts, natural light, and a limited color palette, creating a sense of tranquility and serenity. The minimalist approach allows the congregation to focus on the spiritual experience without distractions. These innovative facilities foster spiritual growth, community connection, and effective ministry. By providing a space that can adapt to the evolving needs of the congregation and incorporating advanced technology, state-of-the-art church facilities create an environment where worship, fellowship, and learning thrive.
Opinion: L.A.’s Pershing Square is getting another makeover. Will this time finally be the charm?
Minimalist church architecture embodies the essence of simplicity, emphasizing clean lines and open spaces. These designs strip away excessive ornamentation, allowing the pure form of the structure to take center stage. By embracing minimalism, churches create a serene and uncluttered environment that encourages contemplation and spiritual reflection. In France and Germany between the first and second World Wars, some of the major developments took place. The church at Le Raincy near Paris by Auguste Perret is cited as the starting point of process, not only for its plan but also for the materials used, reinforced concrete.
Notable examples
Another great example is Westerkerk of Amsterdam, following Renaissance style and remains the largest church in the Netherlands for Protestants. The focus of Protestant churches was on the preaching of the Word, rather than a sacerdotal emphasis. Holy Communion tables turned to wood to emphasize that Christ’s sacrifice was made once for all. Also, they bring it closer to the congregation to show man’s direct access to God through Christ. The Cathedral of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome is one of the earliest large churches with a basilica structure.
The Influence of Art and Culture
One of the finest examples of these tented churches is St. Basil's in Red Square in Moscow. While primarily a concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg includes a contemporary chapel that offers a spiritual escape within its mesmerizing architectural landscape. The St. Mary’s Cathedral, known as the “Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption,” showcases an awe-inspiring concrete structure, with its hyperbolic paraboloid roof symbolizing spiritual elevation.

White is a dominant color in minimalist church design, symbolizing purity and spirituality. The use of a predominantly white color palette enhances the sense of simplicity and tranquility within the space. The white walls and ceilings allow natural light to bounce off, resulting in a soft, ethereal glow that permeates the entire church. Minimalist churches often feature intimate sanctuaries, providing a more personal and immersive worship experience. These smaller spaces within the larger structure allow for a deeper sense of connection and contemplation.
You'd think that the cut-throat nature of auto sales might force dealers to build far away from the competition. Dealers know that a healthy density will bring people to their lot, and foot traffic sells cars. Build on an island, and they'd starve like a hungry castaway rubbing sticks together.
These trends have not only transformed the physical appearance of churches but also created spaces that foster a sense of community, inspire worship, and connect with the modern world. The intersection of modernity and spirituality in church architecture reflects the ever-changing needs and sensibilities of society, ensuring that places of worship continue to evolve and adapt to the contemporary age. The intersection of modernity, spirituality, and design in modern church architecture creates inspiring environments that inspire awe, foster meaningful connections, and nurture a sense of community.
These spaces provide a sanctuary where worshippers can experience a connection with the divine while being surrounded by the inspiring elements of contemporary architecture. The combination of spiritual and aesthetic elements creates a profound and uplifting experience for individuals and communities alike. Modern Church Architecture is a testament to the innovative and contemporary designs that have emerged in recent years.
This architectural marvel not only blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings but also creates a spiritual and awe-inspiring space. The Council Memorial Church in Vienna, designed by architect Jože Plečnik, is renowned for its innovative approach to modernist architecture. Plečnik incorporated elements of ancient Roman and Gothic styles while embracing modern materials and techniques. The church’s angular design, exposed brickwork, and innovative use of light create a unique and atmospheric space for worship.
A recording of the sermon later appeared, but it was followed by accusations the convention edited her closing remarks, which challenges the four allied denominations to support women in ministry. We can work with you the Pastor, and parish committees to tailor fit your needs to make your church a beautiful house of God it was designed to be, while keeping your costs under control. Our hope is partitioners will be able to feel at home while being closer to our lord through our expert handcrafted designs.
These architectural marvels blend the functionality and symbolism of religious spaces with the beauty and innovation of modern design. One of the prominent trends in modern church architecture is the emphasis on sustainable design practices. Churches are incorporating eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and renewable energy sources to reduce their carbon footprint and create environmentally responsible spaces. Additionally, modern churches are adopting minimalist design principles, stripping away unnecessary ornamentation and focusing on clean lines and simplicity.
The Church of the Holy Cross in Vienna is a striking example of mid-century modernist architecture. Designed by architects Fritz Wotruba and Fritz Gerhard Mayr, the church features a unique combination of bold concrete forms and minimalist design. The exposed concrete structure and angular shapes create a sense of simplicity and grandeur, while the large glass windows allow natural light to flood the interior. Modern church architecture refers to the contemporary design styles and innovative structures used in the construction of churches. It embraces elements such as sustainable design, minimalist aesthetics, futuristic shapes, and avant-garde materials.

Review Of The CIGA Design Series Z Skeletonized Mechanical Watch
This allows one to get a really great look at all of the components such as the balance, escapement, mainspring barrel, and more. To learn more about our testing methodology and how we evaluate products, head here. We tested the first Chinese timepiece to win a prestigious Swiss award. The watch only carries 30m of water resistance, and I’ve seen a number of criticisms about that. So no swimming with it - Though, I would question why anyone would to begin with.
Ciga Blue Planet Review: A Unique, Novel, Striking (and a Bit Odd) Chinese Watch
Book design for Saving The World One Record at a Time, a visual and literary compendium drawn from Greg Shaw's two indie magazines, BOMP! (Who Put The Bomp) and it's predecessor Mojo Navigator — a wild treasure trove of writing and graphics — that gave birth to the modern rock press. Rebranding of Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, in DTLA.
It’s Chinese
CIGA Design's victory at last year's GPHG, however, is evidence that these older customs might be starting to change. For the first time in the GPHG's 21-year history, the show had a winner from outside the traditional horological meccas in Europe and Japan. Overcoming a crowded field of mostly Swiss-made timekeepers, a small company named CIGA Design became the first Chinese company ever to be recognized by the Geneva Grand Prix.

Since 1969, CIGA has helped thousands of consumers navigate the uncharted waters of insolvency and ensure their medical and financial security. These channels also contain two screws each that at first seem completely cosmetic but which act as hour indices (2, 4, 6, 8). Within one of these channels, one can also see the crown tube that has been presented in red, matching the accents on the hands. A substantial detail of this case are the bilateral channels cut into the case by the sides of the dial.
But for an authentic pulse check, mass customer feedback trumps all. "At 40mm wide and 11mm thick, with a design this interesting, it’s going to get noticed. The watch feels dense, like there is more than you’d expect packed inside, giving it a sense of value." Here too CIGA brings a delicate balance of avant garde and versatile elegance across their collections. Signatures like the Blue Planet‘s engraved case and industrial multi-layer style play beautifully against conservative colors. Different from the traditional hard connection between watch movement and case, the patented structure is flexible to enhance the vibration resistance of the me-chanical watches. In the tight-knit world of Swiss watchmaking, China’s dual identity as a manufacturing center and a fast-growing luxury market is well understood.

Speaking personally as collector who cherishes the heart behind gadgets – not just gears – CIGA‘s origin story gives special meaning to the pieces on my wrist. Each feels part of a living creative community versus another soullless branding exercise. Jianming recounts early memories gifting his first self-built watches to smiling village elders. The joy of elevating his community through artisanal craft stuck with him for life.
I scrutinized the dial from up close and found no rough edges; further, the entire dial surface has been satin finished. Watch movements will regularly leave the factory in unsightly conditions if they’re not going to be visible, but a lot of time (and money) has gone into making sure this dial and movement look the part. On to the highlight of the CIGA Design Series Z, the skeletonized dial. Indeed, most of the dial has been completely skeletonized which gives the watch its snazzy look. Additionally, many of the elements of the movement have also been skeletonized which allows for a largely unobstructed view into the inner workings. Overall, the case is solidly built and unique in its design, clearly offering a sleek sports look while also integrating with the skeletonized look of the watch.
As a full skeleton watch, CIGA Design naturally fits the caseback of the Series X Gorilla with a sapphire display window. Despite the focus on ruggedness and shock resistance, however, the watch underperforms on the water resistance front, offering only a 30-meter rating. All in all, if you find the Series Z attractive on paper, I’m sure you’ll be satisfied once it’s on your wrist.
CIGA Design's winner was the Blue Planet, a 46mm titanium watch emblazoned with a three-dimensional aluminum globe in the center of the dial that uses a proprietary asynchronous time display. At the time the prize was announced, I had never heard of CIGA Design – and neither had any of the old-school Swiss watch industry executives who surrounded me.
